OBITUARY.

Catherine America THOMPSON, daughter of Stephen and Catherine THOMPSON, was born in Adams county, Ohio, April 21, 1852, and when one year of age moved with the family to Warren County, Illinois, where they lived until 1868 when they moved to Ringgold County, Iowa. She was one of the pioneer school teachers, taking much pleasure in her chosen work. She united with the United Presbyterian church at Mount Ayr under the ministry of Rev. William BROWN.

On September 11, 1875, she was united in marriage to George W. NOBLES and their home was established in Liberty township. To this union one daughter was born, but its life was too frail to remain, and not being blessed with any more children of their own, they took into their home a nephew, Clair RICHEY, at the age of 18 months, where he grew to manhood, receiving all the love and comfort of the home.

On Janurary 28, 1900, Mr. NOBLES passed away and on April 13, 1905, Mrs. NOBLES was united in marriage to Henry H. PARSONS of Mount Ayr, who passed away March 23, 1917.

She continued to live in her home until October 7, 1930, when she was united in marriage to J. A. OGIER, and the following spring they moved to his home at Valley Falls, Kansas, where she lived until her death on Tuesday, March 18, 1941, at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 25 days.

Of a family of nine children only two sisters remain, Mrs. Bell TILGHMAN of Reseda, Calif., and Mrs. Alice CALFEE of Seattle, Wash. Her only brother, S. L. THOMPSON, passed away on December 6, 1940. Besides her husband she leaves a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

The body was brought to Mount Ayr and the funeral was held at the Rhoades Funeral Home March 21, at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Thomas KELLY, and burial was made in the NOBLES family lot by the side of her first husband and child in the Oliver cemetery.
