June 15, 1915OBITUARY
J[ohn]. E. BELLAMY was born in Bedford county, Virginia, August 19, 1823, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. J. RODGERS, June 8, 1915 at the age of 91 years, nine months and twenty-eight days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin BELLAMY and of four brothers and three sisters he was the last one called home.
At the age of fourteen he moved with his parents to Barren county, Kentucky, and on May 5, 1851, he was united in marriage to Miss Martha BUTTON of that place. To this union twelve children were born, three of whom died in infancy.
In 1864 Mr. BELLAMY came to Ringgold county where he spent the remaining years of his long life. In 1903 he united with the Baptist church at Delphos and has lived a devoted christian life. During the past few years he has been in poor health and could not attend the services of the church but his faith in his Redeemer has never wavered. He has often expressed his confidence and trust in the God of his salvation. He loved to have the Bible read to him; one of his favorite chapters being the 14th of St. John. His favorite songs were, "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "Asleep in Jesus." The christian hope pierces the shadow for us all at this time of deep need.
Those left to mourn their loss are a devoted wife, nine children: J. M. BELLAMY of Lawton, Okla., R. W. and T. J. of Mount Ayr, Mrs. F. M. COLEMAN of Newman, Calif., Mrs. John GILL of California, Mrs. May HULL of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Grant ROYSDON of Mount Ayr, Mrs. A. E. SHAW of Oklahoma, and Mrs. E. J. RODGERS of Redding. Twenty-eight grand children, sixteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held from the home Thursday, June 10, 1915, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A.M. EASTMAN. Interment was made in the Oak Ridge cemetery.
