OBITUARY.

Louisa I., daughter of Rev. T. H. HOLLINGSWORTH, of the Missouri Annual Conference. She was born in Hancock county, Indiana, August 9, 1844, married to Rev. P. C. GLENDENNING, March 11, 1866, and died in Ringgold county, Iowa, June 28, 1890. Sister GLENDENNING was religious from early childhood and early in life became identified withthe M.E. church of which she continued a most worthy member until called to join the triumphant throng above.

She had gifts of high order and was an excellent worker in the church, being always ready to give "a reason of the hope that was within her" and to perform any service what was for God's glory and many sleepless nights she spent by the bedside of the afflicted where her presence was always felt to be a blessing.

Religion with her was not guess work. She knew for herself that Christ had power on earth to forgive sin and to cleanse from all unrighteousness and she lived in the smile of his countenance. Bro. GLENDENNING remarked that he had lived with her 24 years and never knew her angry. She was a model house-keeper, a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a kind neighbor and an earnest christian. She was never very strong and the last few years quite frail and the last four months she was confined to the house and a part part of time to her bed and at times her sufferings were great, her disease being of the stomach, but her faith in God never faltered. her end was what might be expected from one who had served God so faithfully through life. She was free from suffering about two days before she died and when the end came with her eyes Heavenward she said, "I see her," then with one hand raised as though to greet some one she said, "They are coming, praise God." and her pure gentle spirit took its departure to the home of the blest.

"O for the death of those,
who slumber in the Lord:
O be like theirs, my last repose
Like theirs, my last reward."

Sister GLENDENNING leaves an aged father and mother who are in feeble health and nearing the "crossing." A sorrowing husband, four children and one step-daughter who loved her as a mother and to whom she had been all that the name mother implies. A large concourse of people attended the funeral at the Middle Fork chapel to pay their last respects to the memory of one they had learned to love.

The funeral sermon was preached by the writer from 1st Thes. 4:14, "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him." --S. A. ELLIOT.
