MEMOIR.

Everett GARD, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen GARD, was born in Tippecanoe county, Indiana, November 1, 1884, and died at the home of his parents in Diagonal, Iowa, September 2, 1891. Sixteen years is a brief allotment of earthly life - perhaps enough for its woes, full enough for its cheer.

The day after his death, funeral services were held at the M. E. church, and his body taken to the Grove Chapel cemetery [Kent, Union County, Iowa] for interment and laid to rest beside the grave of a younger brother [Charles GARD]. Everett was a kind hearted boy, too frail for earth, for his sun went down while it was yet day, but not as the evening star which sinks behind the darkened west, but as the morning star, which melts away amid the brightness of heaven. His parents and two brothers survive and mourn his death. --B. D. HIMEBAUGH.
