DEATH of PIONEER.
Another one of Ringgold county's pioneer citizens has been called to his reward. John B. FISHER, resident of Clinton township since 1864, passed peacefully away Wednesday, July 5, aged ninety years, eleven months and twenty days. Two days before his death Mr. FISHER fell and broke his hip and his frail body was unable to withstand the shock. Although given the best of care and medical treatment he grew gradually weaker until the end came.
Mr. FISHER was born in Mercer county, Kentucky, July 15, 1831, being the third child of a family of seven children. When he was two years of age his parents moved to Vermillion county, Indiana. At the age of twenty-two he was united in marriage to Mary Ann WILKINSON, a native of Vermillion county, Indiana. To this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter. The daughter, Mrs. J. C. ABARR, passed away several years ago in Nebraska. The sons, James R. of Mount Ayr and George of Redding, survive. In 1855, Mr. FISHER moved with his family to Marion county, Iowa, where they resided for two Years and then moved to Worth county, Missouri, where they made their home until 1864, when they moved to Ringgold county. Here Mr. FISHER spent the remainder of his long and useful life.
The funeral was held Friday, conducted by Rev. E. E. LOWE.
