DEATH of WILLIAM FIFE.
William FIFE, for many years a prominent stock buyer and extensive feeder, passed away at his home north of the city Monday evening, after an illness of several weeks' duration. He had been in declining health for several months and on this account he disposed of his herd of registered Herefords at a public sale held several weeks ago. About two weeks ago he was taken critically ill and grew constantly weaker until the end.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home conducted by Rev. W. L. TORRENCE, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, and interment was in the North Cemetery.
William, son of Robert and Elizabeth (WALLACE) FIFE, was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania July 8, 1861. The family came to Iowa in the year of 1876. He was married November 29, 1887, to Martha Alice IRVING. The home was established and continued in the same place to this day. Mr. FIFE was a prominent farmer and stock man of the community and as an early settler was widely known. For some time he has taken ill and died Monday, January 1, 1923
