SP/4 Howard Dean Nickles, who had served since March 14, 1966, in Vietnam, returned March 10 to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nickles, of Benton, for a two week visit before being reassigned to duty. A member of Company C, 2n Battalion, 2nd Infantry, Nickles was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for heroism from Nov. 15 to Nov. 16, 1966, and meritorious achievement from March, 1966 to February 1967, and also the Purple Heart for wounds received in action on Nov. 15, 1966.
