I have just returned from Council Bluffs and obtained a Death Record from the courthouse. It is not a certified death certificate, but should have the same info. It has Place of death; Usual residence; name of deceased; date of death;date of birth; usual occupation; birthplace, father's name; mother's maiden name;was deceased in armed forces; informant's name; cause of death; attendant's name; burial or cremation;date of burial; location; funeral director's name/address; date received by registrar; name of county registrar. In looking through the death records book while I was there, I noticed that not all info is filled in on everyone's record. Also, they show my g-mother date of birth and death as the same year, so there are errors present. All in all, it is a pretty good source of info. I obtained this from the Pottawattamie county courthouse. Hope this helps.
