Council Bluffs Catholic Mission

RICHARDS

My 95-year-old grandmother has an old journal in her possession of our ancestor Silas Richards.
He was part of the emmigration of the Mormon pioneers from Council Bluffs.
A daughter, Elizabeth Richards was buried in the Fairview cemetery in August 1846.

In this handwritten journal he gives the following statement:

"Arriving in the vicinity of the Missouri River on the 24th of June [1846], I bought the Catholic Missionary station from the Indian chief Laframbois."

He then details the terms of the transaction.

I'd like to travel to see the area and I am wondering who might have an idea where in Council Bluffs this Catholic Mission might have been.

I would love to hear from anyone who might know something about this.
