SPECIAL DISPATCH TO THE “DUBUQUE TIMES,”

FROM SIOUX CITY

SIOUX CITY, Ia., Nov 16, - A few days since J. M. Washburne, United States Indian Agent at Big White Clay River, Dakota, telegraphed to the Indian Department, asking that troops be sent to his department immediately, claiming that during his temporary absence some meddling whites had induced the Indians to seize the Government stores at his agency and move one hundred miles west to Nebraska. It is now stated that the truth is, the whites living there detected Washburne in many frauds and reported him to the Department, and now, like Whaum, of Ft. Laramie, he is endeavored to drive them from the country

The introduction of troops into the Indian country where now all is tranquil, would be a violation of faith, and would lead to serious trouble.
