MR. FRANK PELTON

Candidate for Surveyor, would certainly have met competition yesterday if he had not been known to be an accomplished engineer and a worthy gentleman. Added to this the fact that his Republicanism is of the impregnable sort, he thus becomes a nominee of unusual strength. His services have been in almost constant recognition by the city for two or three years past, and he is esteemed by the people of the city as always reliable and accurate. Mr. Pelton is about 38 years old, a native of Massachusetts, mainly educated at Schenecteday, N.J., and spent some time in the surveys for the Northern Pacific railroad. He chose Des Moines for his home in 1867.
