CAPT. WM. CHRISTY
Is so well known to the people of Polk County and especially of Des Moines, that it is almost superfluous to write of him. In brief, however, we may mention that he came to Iowa from Ohio in 1854, settling in Clark county. He enlisted in the Iowa Volunteer service in 1861, and served until the close of the war. Returning home from four years of honorable service, he settled down in business in Clark county. In 1872 the people of the State called him to take charge of its funds as State Treasurer, in which office he remained four years. Since 1876 he has made Des Moines of Cashier of the Capital City Bank, in which position he has had ample opportunity to become acquainted with the people of the county and to understand their wants. Mr. Christy has a wide acquaintance in Iowa, and our county will introduce him with pride as a man abundantly able to do his share of the important legislation called for by Iowa's greata advance in development materially and sound on the moral question now pending.
