Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Huddleston conducted here Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Huddleston, 66, were conducted Monday at Hitchcock Chapel with burial in Laurens Cemetery. The Rev. Mervin R. Nelson officiated at the services, while Robert Hawley, Joe Roewe, Henry Roewe, H. M. Pohlman, Robert Dubbert and F. E. Siddall were pallbearers.
Mrs. Huddleston died Friday at the Methodist Hospital Extended Care Center in Rochester, Minn.
Born in 1906
Martha Hawley Huddleston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred K. Hawley, was born in Laurens in 1906 and graduated from Laurens High School.
After graduation from Grinnell College, she taught at Sturgis, Mich., before going to New York City where she engaged in many aspects of the publishing business, and produced educational materials.
She was united in marriage to Robert B. Huddleston in 1929 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Mrs. Huddleston was the founder of the Teen Age Book Club and was listed in Who's Who in America. She received the Freedom Foundation Award and was active in the Women's National Book Association, and numerous other business and professional organizations.
