The funeral of grandma Gell were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the church, conducted by Rev. Sheperd, after which interment was made at the Howser cemetery east of town. Grandma had been sick a long time but bore it all very patiently. She was born in Scotland on Feb. 23, 1838 and died at her home here on Feb. 27, being a few days more than 85 years of age. Her husband passed away several years ago, leaving her with seven small children, but she managed to raise and educate her family, although she had many a hardship in doing so. She was a true devoted christian, so was ready and willing to go when the summons came. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Dewhurst of Blanchard and Miss Anna who has cared for her mother so many years, and three sons, Fred of Blanchard, William of this place and Richard of Clarinda, two children Agnes and Robert preceded her in death. She also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a host of dear friends, for to (?) grandma Gell was to love her. The whole community sympathizes with the bereaved family, but most especially with the daughter, Miss Anna, who has been a constant companion for so many years.
