John D. Gillespie, Lt. Col. (retired), 89, Dupont, WA, was born in Red Oak Oct. 23, 1917, to Samuel Donaldson and Margaret Elizabeth (Gillespie) Gillespie and passed away on Monday (March 12, 2007). No services were held.
He proudly served our country for more than 30 years as an Army pilot. Upon his retirement, he served as a flight instructor at Fort Lewis. He was a 40-year resident of Dupont, WA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles and Frank Gillespie; and a sister, Ella Nadgwick.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Gillespie; sons, Frank Gillespie, Peter Morgan and Larry Balcerak; daughter, Janelle Miller; grandchildren, Michelle Craft and Tyler Balcerak; his family in Iowa and the Robinson clan.
