Pauline Reynolds, 100, of Winterset passed way Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Churches in Winterset and Shenandoah.
Pauline Shutwell Murphy was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Shenandoah, Iowa; the daughter of Roy and Mabel (Shutwell) Murphy. Pauline graduated from Northboro High School and attended Simpson College, where she received her teaching certificate in 1933. While at Simpson, she joined the Tri Delta Sorority and was a lifelong member. She was also a long time member of PEO and the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). Pauline was a teacher for five years teaching at Union Grove and Shenandoah before her marriage to Marshall Reynolds, which took place on May 27, 1938, at her parent’s home. Pauline’s faith was very important to her and she was a member of the United Methodist Church. Pauline loved music and was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed playing at church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in August of 1985; a son, James Reynolds; a great-granddaughter, Tori Willey and her siblings, James Murphy and Jane Cathcart.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, David Reynolds of Gilbert, Ariz.; Patrick Reynolds of Redondo Beach, Calif.; Thomas Reynolds of Ankeny; daughter, Pam Wheeler of Grimes; sister, Patricia Ciochette of Phoenix, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
