FUNERAL OF BERT GRAVES AT M.E. CHURCH TUESDAY

The funeral of Bert Graves was held in the M.E. church in Sibley Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Travis in charge. The body being brought from Phoenix, Arizona; Sunday.

The young man had gone west a little over a year ago for the benefit of his health, having contracted tuberculosis, while in the service during the World War.

He was married to Miss Hedvig Malm, May 10, 1924 at Worthington in the Swedish Lutheran church. It was a hospital romance, she having been his nurse while he was a patient there.

Bert Graves was born at Lake View, Iowa, April 27, 1894 and died September 2, at Phoenix, Arizona. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs Hiram (Lena Wessels) Graves. His mother preceded him in death a few years ago. His father who survives him lives on a farm near Reading, Minn.

Most of his life was lived in Sibley coming here as a small boy he attended the Sibley public school.

On April 10, 1918 he enlisted in the service for the World War, being sent to Madison, Wisc., with Cass Brown, Ralph Overholser, George Hanon, Kenneth Suter, Antone Koopma and George King, where they were instructed in field artillery work. About the first of June they were transferred to Camp Jackson, N.C., where Bert became a sergeant in the 10th Regiment Field Artillery. He was honorably discharged January 11, 1919.

He leaves besides his wife and father, three sisters, Mrs. A.E. Olson of Nebraska, Tena and Marguerite; three brothers, Wessell, Theodore and Bernard, all at home at Reading, Minn.
