Martha Francis Pierson was born at Mooresville, Ind., May 19, 1888 and died at her late home in Rock Rapids, May 3, 1910, being at the time of her death 21 years, 11 months and 14 days. She was the daughter of Stephen D. and Harriet Pierson, the former dying when Martha Francis was about 10 years of age.

Her early life was spent at Mooresville where she attended the public school and when about nine years ago the family moved to Sibley, the deceased entered the high school in that place. She was a member of the Sibley Methodist Sabbath School and took an active interest in the work of the church. She always expected to unite with the church, but like many another, thought that she had a long life time in which to do so. But how little did she realize that the first score of her years would scarcely be past before she would be called hence. The one greatest regret of her last hours was that she had not definitely and publicly proclaimed her faith by receiving the sacrament of the church. Before she died a little space was graciously granted her in which she sought foregiveness for all the misdeeds toward God and her friends and was baptized in the faith of her savior.

On September 4, 1907 she was married to Keller Sheneberger who survives to mourn her untimely death.

The deceased was in apparently good health up until about 10 days ago, even then she was not thought to be seriously ill until Sunday. She was conscious until the very last when she fell peacefully to sleep.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her early death, a mother; Mrs. Harriet Reagan of Sibley, two sisters; Mrs. Howard Record and Mrs. Will Reichert, who reside at Mooresville, Ind., and two brothers; Charles H. of Sioux City and Wallace S. Pierson of Sibley.

She was a member of the Rebecca lodge. She had lived in the city a comparatively short time, but the place she had won for herself is indicated by the number of friends who came in to express the feelings of their own personal loss in the departure of their friend and sister.

The mysteries of life are too high, wide, deep and thick for us to understand, but we close our lips and bow our heads and await until faith shall place in our hands the key that shall show us the secrets of the pains, heartaches and sorrows of this world.
