Thomas Jerome Jungers (1945-2022)

Thomas "Tom" Jerome Jungers, the son of Jerome "Ome" Dominick and Margaret Agatha (Niichel) Jungers was born May 28, 1945 in Sheldon, IA. He graduated from Sheldon High School in 1963.

Tom was united in marriage to Karin Betsworth on August 7, 1965 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, IA. Tom and Karin spent most of their married life in Granville, IA. Tom was employed with Dubuque Packing and Wells Blue Bunny, both in Le Mars, IA, before retiring in July 2007.

Tom passed away on January 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, at Unity Point St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA. He battled a brief illness and reached the age of 76 years 7 months and 24 days.

Tom was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville and the Sheldon Eagles Club. He enjoyed playing cards (Pinnacle and Euchre), Sudoku and played Solitaire DAILY. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his children and grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife Karin of Sheldon, IA and their children: Thomas Jr. of Kasson, MN, Matthew, Cindy Malenke of Lakeville, MN and Luke; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and siblings: Paul Jungers of Lyon, NE, Johanna Koob of Sioux City, IA, Fred (Elaine) Jungers of Sheldon, IA, Terry (Carol) Jungers of Hospers, IA, Mark (Sheila) Jungers of Sioux City, IA, as well as many other friends and relatives.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, Shawn Jungers (Tom Jr's loving wife of 32 years) and a sister, Betty Jungers.
