Funeral services for Floyd "Red" Coss, 78, Atalissa, were held June 13, 1987 at Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty, with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Mays was organist. Pallbearers were Mel Hepker, Dick Garvin, Willard Rockwell, Delbert Phillips, John Conner, Daryl Sterner and Ray Beine. Honorary pallbearers were James Stucker, Tom Carlisle, George Morrison, Bill McGowan and John McGowan. Burial was in the Muscatine Memorial Park cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the West Liberty rescue unit.

Mr. Coss died June 11 at University hospitals in Iowa City after a short illness.

The son of Elmer and Ida Mae Stouffer Coss, he was born June 24, 1908 in Atalissa. He married Iola Christofferson Feb. 24, 1937 in Monmouth, Ill. The couple farmed for several years in the Muscatine county area. Mr. Coss was most recently employed as a clerk at the Atalissa post office.

Mr. Coss was a member of the Christian church in Atalissa.

He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Jerry, Moscow and Donald, Muscatine; a daughter, Mrs. Nevin (Janice) Roberts, Marion; a brother, Herbert Coss, Moscow and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
