Obituary of Thos Bridges, a well known miner and highly respected citizen of this vicinity, died quite suddenly at his home at Green Ridge No 2. Thursday, July 21, 1910, rheumatism of the heart causing his death. He was 52Y, 5 M, 2 days old.
He was born in Scotland on February 19, 1858. In 1878 he was united in marriage with Marian Hislop, and in 1881 they came to the United States, residing in Illinois and iN Washington, but for the past 23 years they had lived in Monroe & Mahaska countyies, employed at several of the mines. Some years ago, lived near the city park, later moving out east of town where he and his sons operated a coal mine.
While living on the Moss farm, west of Pleasant Corners, Mrs Bridges passed on May 15, 1906.
To this union were born 10 children. 2 were born in Scotland, three in Illinois and 5 in Iowa. Four sons and 2 daughters mourn the loss of their parents. The children are: Robert, Thomas, Edwin, Maethe (wife of Marion Griffin) and Jennie.
Funeral services were at the grave at Oakview Cemetery Albia.
