19 February 2025Lory Ann Reiners, 64, of Whiting, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2025 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Catie Newman, officiating. A visitation with family present will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the chapel. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Lory’s obituary. Burial is planned for a later date at Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Lory Ann was born November 2, 1960 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of Gilbert and Kathleen Marie (Gatto) Gotto. She grew up in Castana and attended school in Mapleton, Iowa. Lory then moved to Sioux Falls, where she married Rick Reiners, and to this union, Nathan Allan Reiners was born. Lory later moved back to Onawa, Iowa. While there, she met Wayne Jepson and to this union, Nicholas Wayne Jepson was born. Lory then later met Rory Barnett.
Lory worked various jobs throughout her life, (mamaw being her favorite job of all) she ended her retirement at West Monona in the kitchen. After retirement you could find Lory hanging out with her friends, getting her nails done, and shopping. Lory was a great mother and caregiver, but in 2020, her role as mother changed to grandmother, to the role she took on as a full-time job. Lory enjoyed spending time with her children and her granddaughter, Emersyn Rose (Hokey Pokey). You could find them outside during the summer days from sun up to sun down. During the cold winter days, you could find these two snuggled up on the couch watching Hocus Pocus.
Survivors include her husband, Rory Barnett of Whiting, Iowa; her children, Nathan (Sammi) Reiners and Nicholas( Megan) Jepson; granddaughter, Emersyn Rose Jepson; brothers and sisters, Bill (Jo) Murdock of Sloan, Iowa, Barbara Ernst of Grand Island, Nebraska, Lisa Murdock of Sloan, Iowa, Kenny (Barb) Murdock of Washington, and Melissa Gotto of Nashville, Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Kathleen Gotto; sister, Becky Cummins; and niece, McKenzie Cummins.
