Marlene Mae Sargent, 89, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at her residence.

A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Omaha, Nebraska, with Pastor Lance Berndt, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Marlene’s obituary. A memorial graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 5, 2024, in the Belvidere Cemetery, rural Turin, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Marlene Mae was born June 9, 1935, the daughter of Glenn and Ethel (Beeney) Martindale, in Castana, Iowa. She attended Belvidere Country Grade School and graduated in 1954 from Castana High School. Marlene attended Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska.

Marlene worked for Verizon as a data center administrator for many years.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, and lawn care. Marlene was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers Volleyball and Football fan, and enjoyed Creighton Basketball.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was a member at the Zion Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska.

Survivors include her son, Michael Sargent; grandchildren, Colin Sargent, Ty Sargent, and Mason Sargent; nieces and nephews, Brad (Kathy) Martindale of North Bend, Nebraska, Betty Jean Abrams of Blencoe, Iowa, Randel (Kevin Ebmeyer) Martindale of San Francisco, California, Rick (Carla) Martindale of Springfield, Nebraska, Susan (Dick) Bellis of Blencoe, Iowa, Glenna (Dan) Hoops of Fremont, Nebraska, Gary Martindale of Turin, Iowa, Arlowene (Dan) Winkelman of North Bend, Nebraska, Cynthia (Tim) Arnold of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Todd (Pennie) Martindale of Gretna, Nebraska; Randy (EE) Sargent of Flowery Branch, Georgia, and Marty Sargent of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Ethel (Beeney) Martindale; brothers, Glenn Martindale, Jr., Richard Martindale, and Eugene Martindale; sisters-in-law, Doris Martindale and Betty Martindale; and nephews, Joe Martindale, Dave Sargent, and Brian Sargent.
