Thore Thompson was the next drainage commissioner. He was elected in 1861 and was re-elected in 1863. Mr. Thompson was one of the Norwegian colony, who, in 1852 and 1853 settled in the vicinity of St. Ansgar, when Mr. Thompson located upon a farm about four miles north of that place. He made the old homestead his residence until the time of his death, which occurred in 1871. He was a man of a good deal of natural ability and of more than ordinary education. He was an influential man among his people.

Thore Thompson settled on section 22, where he remained until the time of his death. He was a Norwegian of more than ordinary American education, and among his people was a prominent and influential man. His son, Theodore, still occupies the old homestead.
