Mildred A. Fry, 83 of 2423 Walden Road, Iowa City died, Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Lensing Funeral & Cremations Services - 605 Kirkwood Ave. The family will greet friends one hour before at Lensings. Burial will be in Dysart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her hame to the Heifer Project International, PO Box 8058, Little Rock, AR/USA 72203 www.heifer.org/ or to any Methodist Church.
Mildred was born June 20, 1920 in Dysart, Iowa the daughter of Charles Abner and Amanda Stella (Knupp) Fry. She received her BA from Coe College and her MA from the University of Colorado. She was a music teacher for forty years and retired in 1980. Mildred lived in Marshalltown for thirty years before moving to Iowa City in 1998. She was a member of Hope Methodist Church.
During summer vacations Mildred traveled extensively throughout the world. She brought back dolls, music boxes and interesting musical instruments from many cultures. These were shared with her students, friends and family.
She is survived by her sister, Marian Johnson and her husband Marion of North Liberty, Iowa and one nephew, David K. Johnson of Tracy, California. She is also survived by great nieces, Jill Johnson-West of North Liberty, Iowa and Maria Ganesh of Castro Valley, California and great nephews Richard Johnson of Lake Zurich, Illinois and Christopher Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas and three great great nephews.
Her parents and one infant brother, Marvin Leroy Fry all preceded her in death.
