TO U.S. ARMY Leaving with the group of selectees who went to Ft. Des Moines January 4, 1942, to be inducted into the U.S. Army was Max Goodman, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Goodman of route No. 1 (January 16; source unknown)

OF THE U.S. NAVY Norman Alvin Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Brown of 912 south Second street, who enlisted in the U.S. Navy July 29, 1941 left the Great Lakes naval training station at Great Lakes, Ill., October 13 to be stationed on the U.S.S. Texas off the east coast. Norman was home on leave September 27. (Daily Herald, Oskaloosa, Iowa, November 7, 1941)

AIR CORPS ENLISTEE Joseph F. Cummings, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Cummings of Oskaloosa, route No. 3, enlisted in the air corps in August 1941 and has been a mechanic. He plans to take flying cadet training. His address is 8th technical school squadron (S.P.A. C.) barracks No. 283, Chanute Field, Rantoul, Ill. (date and source unknown).

SELECTEE - John Clark Cummings, son of Harry Wilbur Cummings of route No. 3, Oskaloosa, was inducted into the U.S. Army December 2, 1941. He left with the group filling quota call No. 23. (Daily Herald, Oskaloosa, Iowa, December 8, 1941).
