A FORTUNE
FOR MINER
--HE HOPES

OSKALOOSA - (AP) -- Nelson Boyd, a Negro coal miner here, his face wreathed in a happy smile, laid plans today to take over an inheritance that may make him a wealthy man.

Boyd received a letter Thursday from an attorney in Nowata, Okla., telling him that his brother, D.C. Boyd, who died a month ago, had willed him one fourth of his estate, houses and lots in Coffeyville, Kan., and 300 acres of oil land near Nowata.

The 300 acres have been leased to an oil company which is sinking its first well this summer. In the productivity of this well lies Boyd's hope for a fortune.

"What am I gonna do when I get all this money?" he declared.

"I'm gonna buy a new car, if I can learn to drive it, and junk my old one. I'm gonna build some more rooms on my house and fix it all up. I got four rooms now, and I started out with one.

"And I'm gonna just keep on mining coal and go to church as usual. That's my pleasure. I'm a good coal miner, too."
