Page 3, Column 7Lillian Sarah W. Bell, daughter of James and A. E. Bell, was born near Patterson, Madison Co., Iowa, September 10th, 1879, and died March 15th, 1893, age 13 yr., 6 mo. And 5 days.
When about 4 years of age, she-with her mother, now had been united in marriage to C. W. Dunn sometime after her father’s death, removed to the home of her step-father, where she resided until her death.
Her last sickness, which was severe, lasted 6 weeks and 2 days. During the entire time of her sickness, she was patient and bore her suffering with great fortitude. When it became known to her that she must die, she manifested no fear, but seemed to set about to arrange for the journey. She made almost every necessary arrangement for her burial, setting her house in order with remarkable precision. Near the close of her life as she descended into “the valley of the shadow of death,” she said to her manna, “I would love to live for your sake, manna, but if it is the Lord’s will that I should die now I want to be willing to go.”
Her last prayer uttered audibly was “Lord take me to live with thee forever.”
On Friday, March 17, after a sermon by her pastor from Luke 8:52 the body was borne to the Blair Chapel cemetery where it is deposited to await the resurrection call. Hers was a beautiful character, worthy of imitation. She will be greatly missed by parents, relatives, friends. Her place in the Sabbath school, church and home will be vacant, “but she being dead yet speaketh.” May we all strive to meet her in heaven. God bless the sorrowing relatives and friends who have been so much afflicted. H. C. Preston
