L.J. Hammond, aged 64 years, died yesterday at 1 p.m. at his home in Jackson township. He has been sick for the last nine months with a tumor of the abdomen. He leaves a wife and two sons, W.E. and W.J. Hammond, both of whom were plasent (sic) at his death.

He has lived in Lyon county for the last fourteen years. He was a deacon in the Baptist church at Reading.

The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Tanner, of Emporia; in the Baptist church at Reading tomorrow at 10 a.m. The remains will [be] buried in Maplewood cemetery.
