Joan Kuntz, 97, of Des Moines, passed away on February 26, 2025, at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines.

Joan Lee Dabner was born in Falls City, NE, on January 15, 1928, to Raymond and Lora (Palmer) Dabner. She grew up in Falls City and Fairbury NE, and Perry and Winterset, IA. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1946 and then attended the University of Iowa.

Fred Kuntz and Joan were married on April 26, 1953, and were married for 70 years. They were members of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Joan had a business career working as a bookkeeper, secretary, and legal secretary. She later worked at WHO-Channel 13 in Des Moines.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; brother, Jack Dabner; and sister, Jane Martens. She is survived by her son, Steve (Karen) and her grandchildren, Eric, David, and Elizabeth (Beth) Kuntz.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel, with a graveside service following in the Winterset Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the family for a future designation.
