Mary Frances Hanrahan, 84, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2008 at our Lady of Peace Chapel, Bishop Drumm Home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Mary Frances was born in Norwalk, Iowa to Frank and Mary Hanrahan. Mary Frances received her B. S., Commercial Education from St. Ambrose-Marycrest College, her M. A., Office Management and Business Education from the University of Iowa and received her Ed.D., Business Education from Northern Illinois University. Mary Frances was a Professor of Business Education and taught at Marycrest College, Northern Illinois University and retired in 1991 from Moraine Valley Community College. Mary Frances then known as Sister Jane Frances, was a vowed member of the Congregation of the Humility of Mary for 25 years and later returned to her much loved congregation as an associate member.
Memberships included Beta Gamma Sigma, Delta Pi Epsilon and Pi Omega Pi.
Mary Frances touched the lives of countless students as an instructor and mentor and became a trusted friend and confidant to many. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her for her quick wit, dry humor, common sense and deep loyalty and love of family.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Alice Hanrahan.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at our Lady of peace Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Drumm Care Center or Subiaco Abbey & Academy in Subiaco, AR.
