Page oneFloyd Strong drowned at New Orleans
Funeral services held here on Wednesday from Christian Church
Mrs. Floyd Strong received a message Saturday night that her husband had been drowned June 7 and the body recovered three days after.
Mrs. Strong requested the body be shipped to Stuart, and the military funeral was held at the Christian church Wednesday. Burial at Penn Center.
There were no details sent to Mrs. Strong as whether the drowning was an accident or in the line of duty. The last letter she received from Floyd he was on a L.S.T. ship and his base was New Orleans.
Floyd was home in May. He finished his basic training training at Farragut, Idaho, then went to Norfolk, Virginia, and then to Chicago. He was assigned to a ship there and sailed down the Mississippi from Seneca to New Orleans.
He graduated from the Stuart High School in the class of 1932. He was married to Pauline Lynch and they have two children, James and Donna. He was inducted into the service at Des Moines November 11, 1943.
