Edward Halferty was born in the state of Ohio, February 4, 1835, and died May 31, 1916, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 27 days, after a few days' illness, of heart trouble so suddenly that but a few of his neighbors knew of his illness.

When but a small boy he moved with his parents to Lucas county, where he resided till his death. He was of a generous disposition; his home was a home for any one that chanced to come his way, and will be missed in his community, where the young folks as well as the older ones, have met at social gathering. His neighbors were very kind in their assistance in his last illness, which will never be forgotten by the family.

Edward Halferty, at the age of 21 years was united in marriage to Catherine Triggs. To his union was born six children, all of whom were present at the funeral as follows - Mary N. Halferty, Matthew J. Halferty, Eliza B Donahoe, Louisa Halferty, William Halferty - all of whom reside near by, except Matthew, who resides in Marshal county, Kansas.
