Olive W. Ives, a prominent resident of Louisa county, passed away at Waterloo, Iowa, Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Kendrick. He had been in poor health for the past year and had only recently gone to his daughter's home in Waterloo in hopes that the change would prove beneficial. However he grew worse and passed away at that place on last Sunday. Deceased was born at Toolsboro, Iowa, September 20, 1846. His early life was spent in that vicinity and he learned the plaster's and brick mason's trade which he followed through his life.

In 1865 he was united in marriage to Miss Floretta Hawkins, of Tama, who survives him. To this union nine children were born, six of whom survive. Those living are, Rhoda, wife of George Christopherson of Muscatine; William Ives, of Wapello; Ada, wife of Orval Mungeeson of Monmouth, Ill.; Jettie, wife of William Kendrick of Waterloo; Jesse Ives of Wapello and Miss Drusilla of Waterloo. He had been a resident of Wapello for many years and was always busily engaged at his trade. He had a large circle of friends and acquaintances who will miss him greatly. The remains were brought here for burial. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. W. McBlain. Interment in Wapello cemetery.
