Smith - Phillips Nuptials.

This morning at 8:00 o'clock at nuptial high mass, Miss Catherine E. Smith became the bride of Mr. Harry C. Phillips. Rev. Father J.H. Courtney, assistant pastor of Saint Peter's Catholic Church, celebrated the marriage in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends of the bridal pair. The church and altar were decorated with ferns and pink and white carnations. The bride's attendant was Miss Matilda A. Dobb, her cousin and Mr. William H. Smith, her brother served the groom as best man.

The bride's dress was of Gros de London, with Pearl trimming. She carried a shower boquet of bride's roses. The veil was held in pleats with lilies of the Valley and smilax. The brides-maids wore pink taffeta, with overdress of net. She carried a shower boquet as sweet peas.

Mrs. Robert Walker sang the offertory and during the mass, "Ave, Maria," "Mother Dear, O, Pray for Us." and "O, Lord, I Am Not Worthy." Miss Jessie Welsh sang "My Child, Give Me Thy Heart,' with Miss Eleanore Dickey at the organ.

A dainty wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Smith. The color scheme was pink and white. The dining room was done with asparagus Fern, pink Killarney roses, and pink and white streamers suspended from the chandeliers. In a pretty latticed arch the bride's cake was placed. Father Courtney invoked the blessing.

About 75 guests were present and the happy couple, received many handsome and useful gifts.

This afternoon one of those merry honeymoon farewells was given Mr. and Mrs. Phillips when they left for Chicago and Milwaukee.

The out of town guests present at the wedding and reception were; Mrs. Wm. Voorvart and Mrs. Henry Voorvart and daughter Mary of Valley Junction, Mrs. Mary Voorvart of Nauvoo; and Mr. Henry Voorvart of Kahoka.

Mrs. Phillips graduated from Saint Peters High School, class of 1914 and is one of Keokuk's popular and accomplished young ladies. Mr. Phillips is employed in the offices of the C. B. & Q. railroad here, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Phillips of 19 North Eleventh street.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillips will be at home to their many friends at 1602 William street, after June 10.
