Married Fifty-Seven Years

Gen. and Mrs. J. C. Parrott celebrated their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary at Keokuk. Gen. Parrott came to Lee County in 1834 as a member of the First Regiment, United States Dragoons. He has remained in the county ever since, marrying Miss Henrietta Buckhalter in 1838. He fought in the war of the rebellion and accompanied the flag of truce pending the surrender of Buckner at Fort Dodge.
