Charged with Infanticide

Mattie Williams and Mattie Walker were arrested at Keokuk for infanticide. The Walker woman gave birth to a child a few days since at the William’s woman’s home. Neighbors missed the child and an investigation disclosed the fact that the babe had been done away with. It was supposed to have been thrown into the Mississippi River, as no trace of it could be found. The Williams woman was locked up and the Walker woman was being guarded.
