The coroner’s jury returned a verdict that the shooting of George Kebo by John Harris, at Keokuk, was justifiable homicide. Harris was immediately released from jail. The sentiment of the community was so strong in favor of Harris that three hours after killing voluntary bail to the amount of $100,000 had been offered in his behalf.
