POWCR@REGISTERMEDIA.COMA What Cheer woman has been identified as the victim of an April 7 death investigation in Mahaska County by the Iowa Department of Public Safety's Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
According to state authorities, the victim has been identified as Courtney Christine Moore, 24, of What Cheer. The person driving the vehicle that struck Moore is Trenton Dwayne Garber, 26, of Montezuma.
Garber is an ex-boyfriend of Moore.
On the morning of April 7, 2016, the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office received an emergency 911 call to the Mahaska County 911 Emergency Communications Center. Authorities responded to 1242 Yale Avenue in Barnes City for a victim who had been struck by a motor vehicle. An autopsy was performed by the Iowa state Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny. The final autopsy results will be available in four to six weeks.
This is an ongoing investigation being worked jointly by the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation with assistance from the Iowa State Patrol.
