LOCKE

Americus I. LOCKE was b. 12/13/1835 in Rockingham, Windham, VT to Ira LOCKE and Hannah PUTNAM.

He m. Laura (or Lauerca) and had Clarence Ira LOCKE, b. 7/18//1858 in Barnard, Windsor, VT and ___ LOCKE (f), b. 8/1860. He was a Methodist Minister in Jamaica, Windham, VT in 1860.

Americus enlisted in Co. K, 17th Iowa Volunteer Infantry from Jones County, IA, on March 31, 1862. He mustered in on April 14, 1862 and deserted the same day. Was his family with him in Jones County, IA?

What happened to them after he deserted? Thanks for any help in advance.
