I am not having anymore luck with tracking down Wm J. Martin then you apparently were having...
So I tried tracking Mary Cooksey. She was evidently married at least 3 times. In 1911 when her mother, Elizabeth W Worrell Cooksey, dies--Mary is listed as Mrs M J Noyes.
However when her father died in 1908, Mary is listed as Mary Carter and she is buried with her parents in the Olin Cem. under this name.
There is a William Martin buried in the Olin Cem. who died 04/01/1875 (he is shown as a brother of Robert Martin). There are no existing Olin newspapers for this date. He is buried in the Old Section of the cemetery and there would not have been a grave site available for Mary when she died in 1927.
Now, here is somemore to add to the mystery of Mary Jane Cooksey. She is listed, living alone, in the 1925 Jones Co. Iowa state census as M J Noyse 78 born OH --She gives her parents as Thomas Worrell and Temperance Stoneman WHO ARE LISTED ON HER MOTHER'S DEATH CERTIFICATE AS HER MOTHER'S PARENTS!! Perhaps at 78 her facilities were not too sharp.
If you have anymore suggestions as to how I can prove that Mary Jane Cooksey was married to your William J. Martin, I will be glad to try them for you.
