As everyone knows, I always come back with extra tidbits :-)
I found Curtis on the 1880 census, age 4 in Wapella, DeWitt Co., IL. The name listed was Dillavaow. This is most likely where he was born and his family lived there for some time. The Charles A. Dillavou mentioned who married a Minnie Strohl is his brother. Again, brothers married sisters noted below.
Their father was William Dixon Dillavou born in Indiana May 1846 and mother was Nancy A. Long born Ohio July 1846. They married June 8,1871 in Piatt Co., IL. I believe the family originated in that county then moved to DeWitt.
Found Curtis' marrriage:
Curtis C. Dillavon married 9/15/1898 in DeWitt Co., IL to Myrtle Strohl. His last name is sometimes seen as Dillavon. Once more, sisters married brothers. Note the correct last name spelling of Strohl.
Back in 2000 there was a researcher named Delores Ruschill who was researching this line. Her e-mail then was deerus@lisco.net and listed on the Dillavou surname Ancestry message forum.
I am sure you already had all of this but if not, it will at least give you a head start!
