I have just located your site and am wondering if possibly there is a common connection. My great grandmother was Lusina B. McCarney. Her parents were Anthony and Catherine McCarney. I have not been able to trace anything back further on Catherine and little on Anthony. Lusina was born in Lisbon, Iowa, in 1863. She was married to my great grandfather, (James) Silas Parsons, in 1882.
The family is listed on the 1856 census of Greenfield Township, Jones County, Iowa, and, at that time, Anthony was 31, Catherine 29, Thomas 11, Maryan 9, Emanuel 4, and Samantha 1. Lusina would have been born about 9 years later. It also appears that at some point (prior to Lusina becoming 21) the family moved to Kansas.
I have a Bible given to Lusina by Thomas, which was, I am told, carried by him when he served in the Civil War.
I do know Lusina's mother's first name was Catherine because that is on her death certificate.
A cousin in North Dakota and I have tried and tried to trace this family further, but have had no real success thus far. -- Are we of the same family?
I will be happy to share any information I have regarding Lusina forward and I will share in the work of any research involved.
