Have been digging around the Internet trying to find links to Asa Bowen and Hugh Bowen but can't. We know Asa's family was from NY and his father from RI while Hugh's from OH. Seems so odd that we have two large landowners with neighboring properties and the same last name but not related? Of course that isn't anything new.
I did notice on a forum people trying to link a Nancy Bowen to William Henry Harrison Bowen. Being that he is from OH while Asa is from NY, I found this interesting:
Nancy Bowen (1809-aft.1888) was seen born either in Herkimer Co (where Asa was born) or Monroe Co., NY and died in Caroll Co., IL. She was the daughter of Simon Bowen (1781-1840) and Nancy Watterman (c.1782-c.1801) and had a brother named Henry Harrison Bowen (1814-1882). This Henry died in CA.
No seen link to Iowa on this family though?
At this point I am still inclined to think we have 2 separate families as coincidental neighbors? I have seen this with the Thompson line in Virginia. Three different families living within a 20-mile radius of each other yet never directly intermarried for whatever reason.
