I have some more information on Elizabeth Goodin now!!!!!
I found passport applications for Elizabeth Sophronia Goodin, born in Iowa 11 April 1861, and lived in Winterset ward as a child (1870 census). Her father, John Goodin, married 3 times. He died in Harlan, Shelby 9 May 1890. Her mother was Sarah Chanellor Briley, but I don't know if she remarried. Sarah died Nov 1898 in Des Moines, Polk, IA, and is buried in Woodland Cem, Des Moines, IA accordin to familysearch.org.
Elizabeth was a missionary to South America between 1894 and 1898, then served as deconess at a Methodist school in Albuqueque, and was back at Des Moines in 1904. She married Rev. Robert Hardie in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and died in 1946 in Kansas City.
If Elizabeth's mother remarried, then she and William Harrison might have been step-siblings. I'd like to explore this possibility before resigning myself to the fact that they were just friends to explain why she sent him a hymnal in 1894 from Des Moines, Iowa. Does anyone recognize the name Sarah Chanellor Briley? I don't even know if Chanellor is a middle or last name. Any info would be appreciated.
