Thats just it..im not sure what his name was before changing to Cornelsen/ Corneilson.He was supposedly a stowaway on a boat from England but is of German heritage. I do know that the crime year was probably around 1883-1885. They get married in March of 1885 in Wayne twp. She is Maria Gretchen Behends(should be Behrens) and he is Johann Fredrich Cornelsen. So the crime happens before this name change appears as story has the crime was committed and he served 6 month time when out they changed their name to Cornelsen and fled for Canada. They used alo t of other family mambers names(maiden and surnames) to confuse anyone whom may go looking for them. Maria gretchen Behrens is the daughter of Anke annie/ Anki Johansen/Janssen Behrens/Ostrander.(second wife of Horace Ostrander from Pierson,Woodbury, Iowa )She passed away in 1924 in Minnesota.Ankes First husband was Peter "Papke/ Popke Behrens. Her fathers name came back on her death certificate as being F. Bohlken and the mother being Anki Johansen.I am assuming this name would be fred or Frederick or Fredrich Bohlken.
