I am looking for any information on a John and Maria Gretchen Behrends /Bolken /Moenk. They were born around 1861-65 in Germany and resided in Wayne twp. They were married under a false name of Cornelsen/ Behrends in the zion Church in wayne. It was rumored that Johann Frederick Cornelsen was cought for skimming milk from his customers and served a 6 month sentence in Iowa for the crime. After release the family changed their names several times and fled to Canada. I have managed to track them back to here. Can anyone out there confirm this event or any other during that time frame to warrant such a drastic measure's from a family?
