I have been perusing the Jones County Iowa site and have added some facts to our GATES family research. I am hoping you can fill in some blanks for me.

Zebedee Gates married Elizabeth Glenn on March 8, 1855 in Jones County Iowa.

I see that Elizabeth’s parents were Wright and Margaret (Boggs) Glenn, and Wright passed away shortly after arriving in Iowa and is buried in the Olin Cemetery. On numerous census (not all in Iowa) following his death, Margaret’s last name is listed as Baker and on line 40 of the US Census Jones County Rome Township her last name is listed as Sherman.

Ms. Glenn (Baker) traveled with my branch, Zebedee and Elizabeth Gates and we believe even later with their son, Joseph William.

Can you shed any light on her name changes?
