Information on J. R. Zimmerman from Jones County

am looking for information on my Great Grandfather Zimmerman. We believe his initals were J.R. He was married to Frances Lux of Manchester/Monticello Iowa. From this union 2 children were born, Harold born in 1909 and John 1911. John died in 1924, Harold in 1968. The marriage to Frances Lux ended apparently in divorce. Frances, being a devout Catholic would never discuss the father with Harold, so we know nearly nothing. The initals come from a letter found in Frances's effects after her death in 1978, when a sister asked if she had heard about J.R. Zimmerman, however no information is given.

I have found that there was a clothier in Monticello Iowa by the name of John Zimmerman. His family was a prominant family in the community.

I have been working on this one over a year with no success yet. Any help is greatly appreciated.
