John Von Sprecken 1899-1988

Funeral services for John R. Von Sprecken, 89, Center Junction, former Stanwood resident, were held Nov. 21 with the Rev. Gregory Hanneman officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis, David and Glen Von Sprecken and Herman, Donald and Kenneth Brunscheen.

Mr. Von Sprecken died at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, Nov. 18.

The son of Gustave and Lena Luckstead Von Sprecken, he was born near Wyoming April 19, 1899. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church, Wyoming and attended rural school near Wyoming.

He married Anna Hintz at Stanwood Feb. 17, 1928. The farmed in Cedar and Jones county and then lived in Stanwood, Oxford Junction and Center Junction. He had been a resident of the Monticello Senior Citizen home for 9 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Irene) Von Muenster, Anamosa, 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, George, Wyoming and Claude, Anamosa. He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
